How it Works - For Schools

Support starts with surveys which enable us to:

identify individual pupils who are at greater vulnerability to risk (Secondary)
specifically tailor programme content to your school (Primary)

This ensures Risk-Avert can address the unique needs of your school.

The targeted programme at the Secondary level delivers six-sessions by trained school staff from across your school community. Facilitators can include pastoral support staff, learning assistants and teachers.

For primary schools, a four-session programme is provided which is supported through our programme website and the Risk-Avert team, it focuses on the transition to secondary school, emotional health and decision making.

For Secondary Schools, Risk-Avert provides

Complete RSE and Health Education curriculum mapped to DfE guidance, it contains online resources including lesson plans, videos, PowerPoint presentations and factsheets. These can be used to supplement existing provision or as a complete scheme of work.

Training focused on theory, evidence, content and delivery with unlimited ongoing support to deliver the sessions

Valid and reliable survey to identify students needing support

Bespoke 6 session life skills interventions for pupils engaging in risk-taking interventions and those experiencing emerging emotional health difficulties

Online surveys to create individual risk profiles at the school and year group level

Evaluation reporting measuring impact and effectiveness

Access to additional RSE interventions

For Primary Schools, Risk Avert Provides

Risk-Avert Primary helps prepare Year 6 pupils for secondary school

Four sessions (for either targeted groups or whole classes) focus on:

What safety feels like

Protective behaviours for personal safety

Identifying risk and how pupils manage risky situations

Tailored online resources to support delivery of the four sessions and a PSHE scheme of work to support whole school approaches

Year 8 (Recommended)

Due to the escalation of engagement in risk-taking behaviours in this age range, the Year 8 survey is focused on emotional health and risk across multiple domains (individual, school, family, peers and community)

Training to support an unlimited number of staff

Online survey to create risk profiles for individual pupils

Access to online resources, ongoing teacher support and evaluation as standard

Six-session intervention for pupils vulnerable to multiple risk-taking behaviours and those with emerging emotional health concerns
