We have developed additional Summer Safety resources for schools across the UK. To access the resources please click here.

Earlier in the 2020/21 academic year, we conducted consultation sessions with professionals from participating Risk-Avert schools focused on their concerns for pupils in relation to the pandemic.

A consistent concern raised by these schools was a potential increase in risk-taking by young people during the forthcoming summer holidays.

The summer is always a potential time of risk-taking but it may be more pronounced this year due to a general feeling of having 'missed out' and the impact of not being able to socialise as we would have wished over the past year.

To address these concerns we have developed these 'Summer Safety' resources. They use a protective behaviours approach and provide practical skills to support children and young people so they are better equipped to manage risky and unsafe situations.

PLEASE NOTE - These do not replace the requirement to deliver additional RSHE lessons on specific risks such as drugs and alcohol, sexual health and consent. The resources are intended to complement your existing RSHE delivery and we recommend you deliver sessions focused on relevant topics over the summer term.
